When Donny was growing up in New Jersey he had 2 cousins that led the way in his wrestling. When he saw one of them win their first state title he knew that he wanted to wrestle. In High School he won 3 state championships and headed all the way out to Wisconsin to wrestle for Barry Davis. At Wisconsin he became a 2x NCAA Champion.
After College he began training at Hofstra under Tom Ryan. At Hofstra he made the world team and took 3rd in the World Championships. Currently he is training for 2008 Olympics and is back at the University of Wisconsin coaching.
